A Busy Moms Guide to Staying Fashionable
This is a sponsored blog written by me on behalf of Maurices
When I had my first baby I just thought I was busy! My life went from hardly having time to feed myself to making sure I kept a tiny newborn, full, dry, and satisfied all day everyday. I loved every minute of devoting every fiber in me to my baby. Then I was blessed with another bundle of joy and just 3 short years later another sweet little babe. I was now a mom of 3 under 5!!!!! HOLY GUACAMOLE! Talk about a full house and very busy schedule. I quickly realized that if I didn’t take time for myself to reconnect with “Me” and maintain my own identity I would lose myself in the world of motherhood.
Not that being completely devoted to your role as a mother is a bad thing because it’s not. Parenthood is beautiful but we get so caught up in making everything perfect for our children we sometimes forget to take a little time for ourselves.
I think there is a period where us mothers have solidarity knowing somedays we just can’t. Can’t do our hair, can’t put on a fresh face of make up, and can’t find anything to wear in our closet. However, there comes a time where we need to stop, take a break, and take time for ourselves. We can’t be our best self, mother, wife, or friend if we aren’t taking care of us.
There are endless options as to what taking time for yourself and caring for yourself may look like. Today I want to share some tips to staying fashionable with your busy lifestyle.
1.) Keep it simple
this is a great reminder for those “I have nothing to wear” days. Don’t overthink it. Start with a good pair of pants like these cute distressed Silver jeans and a simple white tee. By keeping your clothing choices simple you can take the stress out of getting dressed. To bring a casual look like this together slip on a cute pair of booties and accessorize with jewelry.

2.) Chic and Comfort
Running errands, nowhere to go, no one to impress are just a few reasons that can lead to grabbing the first comfortable outfit within reach, which aren’t the most fashionable outfit choices. There are ways to keep the chic and still feel comfortable. A good example is this look here. These wide leg striped pants are fashionable and comfortable. I like pants like these to have a print of some sort rather than a solid color, that way I can go with a plain tee or solid color top.

I don’t know about you but being rushed to get dressed gives me crazy anxiety. When you have to be out the door in a hurry there is no time to waste searching for the perfect outfit. Dresses are my go-to in instances like this or when I spend too much time on my hair and make up and I’m left running around in a rush trying to get out the door on time. My favorite dresses hands down are t-shirt dresses. I feel comfortably dressy in them. They are also easy to dress up and dress down with a simple shoe change.

4.) Comfortable stylish shoes
I love to add a trendy touch to my outfits with shoes but lets face it, not all fashionable shoes are comfortable. Us busy moms can’t be running around chasing toddlers in 6 inch stilettos. I love shoes with a chunky heel like these Dani peep toe heeled booties. I feel a little more stable walking around with a baby on my hip than I do in a thin 6 inch strappy heel. Fashionable athletic shoes….great to pair with t-shirt dresses, jeans, shorts, and joggers. Can’t go wrong with a cute pair of flats. Peep-toe booties have been my seasonal go-to. You can wear them practically every season, plus they look adorable with shorts, a basic tee, and a cardigan, a cute spring and summer outfit.

5.) POP of Color
Adding a pop of color can take a “simple outfit” to the next level of chic and fashionable with very little effort. You can add color in with your jewelry, purse, shoes, and just about any other accessory. The goal is to have one pop of color and not over do it.

6.) GO BOLD
Try something new and step out of your fashion comfort zone. New trends can be a little intimidating but you’ll never know how you truly feel about it if you don’t at least try it first. I was very hesitant about off the shoulder and cold shoulder tops but I gave it a shot and absolutely fell in love with it. So try on some distressed jeans, go with that bold colored dress, pick the shoes with the heel, or give the cold shoulder a chance you may just fall in love with the way you feel about yourself.

There are no rules when it comes to what constitutes as fashionable for each individual and there definitely is not a standard in style or fashion that changes once you become a mother. Life gets hectic at times, we get busy, and just because you are a mom doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed express yourself through fashion and feel confident. One of my favorite in store and online go-to fashion destinations is Maurices. I love the variety of styles they have to offer, whether you are looking for activewear, casual everyday outfits, dresses for brunch and a night out, or a fresh new look for the office they have it which makes shopping easy and my one stop fashion go-to!
