I have been a military spouse for almost 9 years now. I’ve never really shared what it’s like for me being a military wife. We’ve been to 3 different duty stations and are currently overseas in the Middle East. My husband and I have endured 2 long deployments and countless short ones. As I sit, it’s really tough for me to fully explain exactly what it’s like. Every military spouse’s stories and experiences are different but we all have one thing in common, we are supporting our service member’s career fighting for our country and together we are apart of something so special and important to our nation.
That’s why I was so excited when maurices approached me to be part of their #mauriceslovesveterans campaign for Veterans Day. maurices is celebrating those that serve and the families that support them.
Being stationed abroad, one stop shopping is so helpful for our active lifestyle. I love when I can go into a store or online and find outfits that meet all aspects of my life. I can find outfits for my active lifestyle or athleisure, casual looks for running daytime errands, and stunning chic looks for a night out.
Browsing the maurices website, I immediately realized that shopping with them was just that for me, a one stop shopping destination. I found some great looks I wanted to share with you that will take you from morning to night, as well as give you a little peek into my life as a military wife in honor of Veterans Day.
For my first “outfit of the day” I’m sporting an athleisure look that is great for a morning walk to the coffee shop to meet with friends or some rooftop yoga to get your day started off in the right direction. I absolutely love this heathered tunic from maurices. It was literally love at first sight! The design was too unique to pass up. This athleisure top is is so chic with the cinching on the wrists. It definitely caught my eye with the two toned heather grey and extended surplice neckline hoodie.
I cannot tell you how long I have put off buying a pair of mesh cut out leggings for the longest time and, y’all, I couldn’t resist with this pair from maurices! Especially with the great affordable price. They were in my cart so fast. I love the fit and got so many compliments. I can honestly say I feel as though these are extremely flattering and can’t believe I didn’t get them sooner.
This was the perfect outfit for a rooftop yoga session and a walk down to the coffee shop afterwards.
For my afternoon OOTD I dressed my outfit around these blush toned faux leather sneakers from maurices. These sneakers are perfect for running around and tackling errands. I wanted to make this look a little less girly so I paired it with this “MUST HAVE” moto jacket with quilted stitching from maurices. I honestly think a faux leather jacket is a must-have seasonal wardrobe piece and this one steals the show. I adore the detailing on this jacket.
Last, for my “outfit of the night,” I found the cutest sweater dress with an adorable plaid trim. I immediately started thinking of cute looks for this dress and absolutely loved pairing this with a pair of heels and my faux leather jacket I picked out for my afternoon ensemble.
Perfect for a night out with my husband or with the other military spouses stationed here.
Life as a military spouse for me has been exceptionally rewarding and extremely difficult. I love that I am able to stand beside my husband and support his passion for serving in the U.S. Navy. With all the moving we do, I have met so many wonderful people and said my goodbyes more than I would like each time we move or the sweet friends I’ve made move. Being away from family back home is by far the most difficult part for me. Missing out on holidays and time with loved ones never gets easier. Taking the leap and agreeing to go overseas and support my husband in his career was honestly difficult for me in several ways. I was going to be so far from our family and the culture shock that was going to happen.
As crazy as this might be, I am not one to adjust to change well. Funny since our life is constantly changing with all the moving we do. This change was big though. It took me a while to find a new normal. Everything was different and it was so hard for me to identify similarities in this new country that even came close to America. I really had to change my perspective on things and stop being so pessimistic about it all and really try to enjoy the experiences and new opportunities that most don’t get the chance to do or see. Once I started viewing things a from an optimistic point of view I’ve really been enjoying my time overseas and know how important it is to be here.
