We are visiting Texas during the month of November and just when I thought the cooler temps were rolling in back in OKC we get to Katy and I’m sweating buckets! lol I packed only fall clothes and its practically summer here. I truly can’t complain but I won’t lie, I wanted to wear my fall threads!!! Last week we finally got a cool front cool enough for a light cardigan and a scarf without having a heat stroke by 1pm or people looking at you like you are crazy for wearing a scarf in South TX.
I am so smitten over plaid in the fall and winter. It’s such a cozy print! I especially love Burberry print. I adore the mix of natural tones and the pop of red. So the first chance I got to dress as though it was actually fall I pulled out my scarf. I’ll admit it was still a little too warm for the scarf but I wore it anyways. When I feel like my outfit is lacking something I like to layer with blazers, vests, or scarfs to get it that finishing touch to pull it all together. When I put this outfit together I dressed around the long cardigan, looks like a blazer but is really light, because it is the main piece and its on sale right now so you’ll save $21!!!! . The outfit was very simple and dark but was missing something that just pulled everything together and made me feel cozy.
Sometimes I get the question “how do I know if my outfit is missing something” and a good tool I use is, if the outfit looks great but you feel like you are naked, for lack of how else you would describe this feeling, or you can’t stop checking the outfit in the mirror ‘does this look okay?‘ then there might be something missing from it. Maybe add or change out your jewelry or add a layering piece like I mentioned above.
I also know shoes can change your outfits look completely. I felt this simple look needed some heels that screamed. I paired the look with my Valentino Rockstud inspired heels to give it just that.
lets talk about these pants! They are actually thick leggings but the best part is they were only $12 from…..ready….Walmart! Whaaa. Okay so I am not one to rush off to Walmart for wardrobe shopping haul. I enjoy going to Walmart for groceries and a few garden items but never for clothes. I happened to get lost in a Walmart I had never been to before and found myself in the women’s section up against a wall full of different style leggings and I saw these dark grey pants that were too good of a deal to pass up. And the front seam is very flattering in my opinion.
And to add the very last finishing touch to this oh so downtown chic look, I got my girl out. Yes she is my girl. Maybe even my third child lol my beloved YSL Tassle handbag. It is such a delicate purse and a little pricey I really just like to look at her in her dust bag haha That way I know its not getting ruined because lets face it, I am a mom of two under 4 and that can be sticky, messy, and much more that I do not want on my pretty little purse.
