I’m going to make this short and sweet. We are going to DIY a faux green Christmas tree into a flocked tree in a matter of 10 min… maybe more if you are a perfectionist like myself.
I am almost 98% sure you have seen the most gorgeous trees circulating around social media and then you look over at yours and think, “wtf was I thinking I knew I should have gotten that flocked tree 2 years ago!!” instead you went the traditional route and got the all green pre-lit tree, its okay so did I. Well here is the deal, we are about to transform your boring tree….yes even though its already decorated! We are going to to hack your boring tree into a temporary flocked tree.
Disclaimer: This will be a pain in the ass in so many ways when you take down your tree around January 10th but don’t worry I’ll be doing the same or pretend my stomach hurts and leave my husband to clean up the mess!
All you need is a cheap pillow, not a feathered pillow. I am sure you have those 3 pillows that are now flatter than paper taking up space in your linen closet that you wouldn’t even dare hand out to your overnight guests…..use those. Cut it open and grab a handful.
Now simply place the fluff into the tree creating a natural fallen snow look.
- The tiny pieces are great for the tips of the tree.
- Be sure to get the fluff in towards the middle of the tree so that the lights can hit the white fluff creating a more dramatic appearance.
- Make sure you are scattering the fluff along each branch and leading up to the tips
- Pull smaller pieces of fluff to create tiny snow drops place these throughout
This is a great alternative to go with than having to fight the urge to go to Target right now and buy a $500 flocked pre lit tree. Plus if you ever get tired of the flocked look you’ll always have you original green tree underneath.
