Tis’ time we talk about some realness. When I started this blog I wanted to inspire….shortly after I felt so overwhelmed with comparison. It truly is the theft of joy. It creeps in and grabs you by the heart and tears you down. Stop that. You look good for you, you dress up for you, you wear what makes you happy, But don’t let comparison come in and make you feel less than. We are all in our own season of life and you and I are where we are supposed to be, right here. (photo credit: shopdandynow.com)
Now!!! Going to cut right to it. Theses are just clothes, they are taken off at the end of the day and they are just pieces of material. Our shoes, they go on our feet! I don’t know about you but I hate feet, all feet. Don’t touch my feet, don’t touch me with your feet ,lets just not even talk about feet. But seriously friends they get swollen, hot, sweaty, dry *gag*
So our shoes are hot sweaty swollen appendage holders or covers. hahaha. But we love them!!!! I will admit I love to shop. I love to get dressed up, and I have an addiction to feeling good. I want to do these things for myself to feel good. On the days I don’t shower, do my hair, put on a little make up, and get out of my pjs or lounge clothes I feel unmotivated and get bummed. Thats just me. I feel like once I am dressed for the day I can get anything done.
Looking good does not mean you have to spend an arm and a leg on designer clothes and accessories. I am a frugal shopper most of the time. I love a good sale. I Love just going and “looking” for the good buy. I feel less guilty haha. Just because something isn’t $50+ doesn’t always mean its crap quality or less than. Sometimes the price is only there for that tiny little logo or shiny name brand. And the product is horrible. I remember I bought a pair of sandals from a designer brand (I won’t say but it starts with the same letter as taco oreo road young) and I paid a pretty shiny penny for them plus my arm and leg. I kid you not they started to show signs for wear and tear after …..ready…..TWO WEEKS! and I didn’t wear them that often. The leather was peeling off and the threading was coming out. I felt so ripped off. Like I was saying price doesn’t always determine the quality or mean its less than.
You can find amazing outfits without going broke. I love to browse Pinterest and get fashion ideas then go online to my favorite affordable clothing stores and find similar pieces and then I go into the store with my list of things to try on so I don’t get sidetracked and spend carelessly. There is no way I am spending $400 on a dress, theres absolutely no way. But if its amazing I’ll swing back by when that baby is on sale and we can talk about it “If the price is right!”
There are a pair of Valentinos that I just had to have but ummmm there is absolutely no way I can justify spending $1,000 on a pair of heels. I can’t even! A girl can dream or head over to a big shoe wearhouse like DSW and pick up a pair that look VERY similar!!! For only ….. $69.95!!! What!
There is literally no point in blowing money on things! Get that deal girl!!! Go find the sales! If you have the money and/or don’t want to be financially smart and have a collage fund for your kids or a fat savings account then by all means go on with your bad self and spend like crazy. And if you have all of that and still have the funds to blow then girlfriend….please send me an early Christmas present (I’ll leave my address) hehe.
You can look just as good but feel better knowing you spent 60% less. Thats a win in my book!
I do want to add that sometimes its rewarding to save and be able to buy that designer bag, shoe, or accessory. But lets not get carried away lol
here are a list of my favorite stores and tips on saving:
- Outlet Shops
- Clearance Section
- Thrift Store (I mainly go for decor and DIY projects. Our local GoodWill gets truck loads of items weekly from Target! Nothing is wrong with the item just the packaging was ruined or its has a small defect)
- Shop online
- Look online for coupons (believe it or not you will more than likely find a coupon for free shipping or a small % off when shopping online. just type store name coupons year/month
- Poshmark (amazing)
- Instagram closets (yes its a thing. I have bought some pretty awesome items for myself and my little ones)
